What is Periodontics?

Periodontal health pertains to the gums and the bone around the teeth.  Gingivitis is inflamed gum tissue, which is an early form of gum disease.  Periodontal disease is more advanced and involves calculus (tartar) build up and bone loss.

What are signs of gum disease?
  • Bleeding gums

  • Calculus (tartar build-up)

  • Inflammation and redness of the tissue

  • Soreness of the gums and teeth

  • Bad breath (halitosis)

  • Loose teeth, bone loss

  • Receding gums (root exposure)
